Meet the Directors
This is Ally Gates' 7th year as the Diamond Dazzler Director. Ally started dancing at the age of 3 in competitive studio training in areas such as Ballet, tap, jazz, modern/modern, clogging, and lyrical.She is an Akins High School Alumna where she served as a Diamond Dazzler for 3 years. She was Jr. Lieutenant in 2005 and Captain in 2006 when the team won a national title. Ally was a San Antonio Spurs Silver Dancer from 2007-2011. After dancing for the NBA, she moved to NYC and took studio classes in all styles for one year. Ally graduated from Texas State university with a bachelor's degree in Criminal justice, minor in forensic anthropology. Ally has worked with professional dance companies for over 10 years and continues to do so during her summers. Outside of work, Ally is a proud mother of two daughters, Ava (6) and Camryn (3) who are both in dance! Ally also has two dogs, a great dane and pit bull!
Assistant Dance Director
This is Morgan Eddy's 5th year as the Assistant Director of the Akins Dance Department! Ms. Eddy grew up in the Austin area, and began dancing at the age of two. She has over 15 years of private studio training, specializing in Ballet, Jazz, Tap, Modern, Contemporary/Lyrical, Pointe and Cecchetti Ballet Method. After graduating from Hays High School in 2005, Ms. Eddy attended Sam Houston State University, in Huntsville TX, where she received her Bachelor of Fine Arts Degree in Dance. Ms. Eddy has over 10 years of experience in teaching dance to children ages 2-18. She has choreographed award winning performances, and was a director of a private studio's Performance Company for over 4 years. Outside of work, Ms. Eddy enjoys spending time with her family and her two dogs. She is so grateful to work with her co-worker and life-long friend, Ally Gates. She loves coming to work each day while making a positive impact on all of the students at Akins High School, and looks forward to the years to come!
Assistant Dance Director
This is Jordyn Marsh's 2nd year serving as Assistant Director over the Akins Diamond Dazzlers, and Director over the Sparkling Sapphires Junior Varsity Dance Team. Jordyn has also taken the role as Head Cheer Coach at Akins High School. Jordyn was born and raised in San Antonio, Texas and began taking studio classes at the age of two. She's been trained in jazz, ballet, modern, contemporary, lyrical, tap, and hip hop. Upon graduating high school, Jordyn came to Austin to gain her Bachelor in Fine Arts in Dance Education at the University of Texas. Jordyn had the opportunity to student teacher at Akins, prior to receiving her degree. Jordyn has also been developing Paredes Middle School's Dance Program, one of Akins main feeders schools.
Hip Hop Director
This is Daniel Broxton's 6th year as the Director of the Akins Dare To Dream Hip hop Team. Daniel starting dancing at the age of 8 with 9 years of self-taught hip hop training and 2 years of training with the former Diamond Dazzler Director, Tonya Kallfez. He is an Alumna of the former hip hop team, Diversity 2012, and became Captain of the team. He has been teaching for 3 years, and choreographing for 4 years. Daniel is passionate about dance and currently host his own classes at Balance Dance Studios, Austin Texas. His goal is to push the creativity, focus, and limits with dance, and showcase the art of hip hop dancing.
